Rongahuset
Rongahuset is a cosy café and guesthouse in Evanger, just off the E16 between Bergen and Voss in Western Norway.
We offer comfortable accommodation, a good breakfast, and a friendly family atmosphere in a charming historic house. Rongahuset is ideal for travellers exploring the Voss region, the Bergen Railway, Flåm, the Sognefjord, Hardangerfjord and Nærøyfjord. Please note that the house is old, with steep staircases, and is shared with a lively family.
Evanger is a small village surrounded by mountains and fjords. After a fire destroyed the village in 1923, the village was rebuilt. Our house then served as the village grocery store and was known as "Rongabui".
Once a busy local hub with cafés, shops, a bakery and a post office, Evanger is now a peaceful place to stay and explore the surrounding region - whilst our shop Evanger Landhandleri is one of the best independent grocery stores in the region!
We moved in to Rongahuset ourselves in 2017, and we're slowly fixing it up: it creaks, it's old-fashioned, and it's full of character rather than luxury.

Rooms are priced per night by number of guests. All rates include
breakfast, bedding, and towels.
China room (sleeps 2) — from 849 kr
Traveller room (sleeps 4) — from 950 kr
Green room, private bathroom (sleeps 3) — from 1150 kr
Extra guests: 550-700 kr per person per night.

TRAVELING AS A GROUP?
Motorcyclists and small groups of friends often stay with us, each
taking their own room. If you're 2–3 people wanting separate rooms,
contact us directly before booking — we'll give you a group rate
that's better than booking the rooms separately online.
EXTRAS:
Available extras are dinner, laundry, kayak rental, transportation - please ask for prices. If you need anything that is not mentioned here, just ask!
Dinner is 200 kr per person, and can be paid by card or cash. You can add dinner to your reservation when you book, but you can also ask on arrival, or message me before your stay. Please let me know as early as possible if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions.
CHRISTMAS
Over Christmas and New Year (approx. 20 Dec – 3 Jan), we ask for a minimum stay of 3 nights.
STAYING LONGER?
For stays of two weeks or more — particularly outside the summer season — we offer weekly and monthly rates on a self-catering basis (without breakfast, and usually without bedding service). Get in touch and we'll agree terms that suit us both.
